[LOCAL PRESENCE, GLOBAL SERVICE] In this new series, we would like to present the team members of all Damaco Foods offices worldwide. We asked them what our company values - performance, quality, together for better, commitment and fun - mean for them in their daily work life.

We will start with Damaco Foods Singapore, the first sales office outside Belgium, founded in 2008.

Simon (General manager Damaco Foods Singapore):

I remember the 5th of April 2012 very well, my first day at Damaco Group. More than 9 years later I’m living in Asia and I feel grateful to work with ‘a local team’ that has shown commitment, performance, quality, a lot of fun and we’re trying hard to work together to do even better, which is not always obvious, it’s always a work in progress.

But one thing I have learned is that our company values, although the same on paper, can have a much different interpretation across cultures.

For example, I have learned that Asia has a “high context-setting”, you have to know the culture, the habits and practices, the mindset on the work floor and so much more. If you don’t, you’ll have a hard time mingling in.

Thanks to this opportunity, I am grateful that my team welcomes my efforts to adapt, for working with me, for making me proud each time I report to HQ in Belgium, but also for the moments you’re sharing with me some local delights that always make me feel so excited to be in the food industry.

MARK (Sales):

Performance is critical to the overall success of the company. In my 2 years of working in Damaco Foods Singapore, I have been working hand-in-hand with my colleagues. Although our office may be small in size, I have seen its performance improve immensely.

ANNEE (Logistics):

Quality - With substantial order processing skills, I managed to plan shipment and process documents in a seamless manner to meet customer satisfaction and achieving the company’s goals. Compliments that I received from customers and fellow team members are a great encouragement.

YIYUN (Accountancy):

Together for better - Even a small team like ours faces challenges every day. In order to resolve these challenges, we are always looking for ways to improve so that we can work better together. Teamwork is like a key to a room of common vision and goals. The power of communication, high-quality decisions and active collaboration contribute to the making of that key. A small team like ours will strive hard through our daily challenges to create a better working environment.

CHLOE (Logistics):

Commitment - This is essential to promote and create a positive working environment by building a culture of trust and care, to celebrate and acknowledge success, share ideas and take initiatives. Be a team player: we are equally important towards a better future. The whole team is committed and confident to face challenges at work.

DAWN (Logistics):

A fun working environment has proven to be beneficial to organizations. As David Ogilvy once said, “Where people aren’t having any fun, they seldom produce good work.”. We had the opportunity to enjoy a small Christmas gathering outside of our work hours in 2020. It was a wonderful time; we had a delicious dinner and played Jenga.
