As it is known, in our country, which is among the most important producer and exporter countries in the world in the poultry and white meat sector, the current production volume has been reached with the correct policies in production and exports for years, The sector has maintained the ability to meet domestic demand and foreign demand for many years.
Regional and global risks in recent years have created an upward trend on the global food price index and have revealed the activities of countries to maintain domestic market supply, especially in basic agricultural products.
Accordingly, poultry products, which are the most important animal protein tool in our country along with various products, were also included in the Issuance List of Goods in May 2023.
However, in the first months of 2024, the rate of increase in chicken meat prices was with general inflation, cost items such as feed and energy foreign currency It has been observed that the monthly price changes in the exchange rate are far above. This has shown that the product group in question has gone beyond the usual market conditions and the usual pricing behavior has deteriorated.
While monitoring price formations, production and export developments were analyzed, possible scenarios in domestic and foreign demand were meticulously tetched, consultations with relevant public institutions and sectoral organizations, production, consumption, A detailed study was carried out within the scope of foreign trade and price formations.
It has been observed that the changes in consumption habits and domestic demand bring speculative price rises. The analyzes proved that a number of arrangements should be made for the export of the product in question, ensuring that supply-side troubles are not given to protect consumer welfare in the domestic market.
However, the ability to maintain the economy of scale in the sector, the fluctuations in domestic demand do not cause production loss and are gained through intense efforts export It has been evaluated that the protection of the markets is also important for the economic interests of our country.

As a result of these audits, administrative fines were imposed on 8 companies that were found to be in violation by the Unfair Price Evaluation Board.
However, due to complaints about the exorbitant price increase in the poultry sector recently, inspections have been restarted recently by our Ministry of Commerce investigators about 16 companies operating in the poultry industry.
It was also learned by the Competition Authority that the investigation against some companies operating in the white meat sector on 04.01.2024 was concluded with the necessary administrative fines and communicated to the relevant companies on 26.4.2024.
In this framework, by working in coordination with relevant official institutions and sectoral organizations, especially our Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, the main objectives of our country's agricultural products policies and regulations in the domestic and foreign trade of various food products; maintaining the domestic production and consumption balance, taking into account the new trends emerging in the world; Our priority is to meet domestic consumption at reasonable prices for our citizens and to ensure sustainable food supply in our country by eliminating threats to food supply security.
